Aunty Ruth Moffatt Reading Room
The Aunty Ruth Moffatt Reading Room is a cosy nook at the community centre. We encourage and invite all community members young, old and in-between to come down to the Centre, grab a book, a nice warm cup of tea or coffee, get comfy on the couch or in the tepee (for those who are young or young at heart!) and take some time out and enjoy a book or three.
The Reading Room was named in honour of one of our beloved local Elders, Aunty Ruth Moffatt. Through Aunty Ruth’s leadership, commitment and service she has made a lasting impact on our community. Aunty Ruth has supported and actively served the Ipswich community for over 30 years and has given her time, care and attention to educating thousands of children of Ipswich through her active reading and volunteering at schools.
Aunty Ruth’s Reading Room is open Monday to Thursday 9:30am to 4:00pm for all community members. Drop into Reception to access Aunty Ruth’s Reading Room.
You are welcome to take 2 books per person, per visit home with you and you can either return the book, keep the book or pass the book onto friends or family!
If you have books you would like to donate please drop them off at Reception or call the Centre on: 07 3816 2111 if you would like to have a chat about Aunty Ruth’s Reading Room.
